Build and publish an original, playable single-page browser game named "Hamster Pacer: Echo" for the Squeekchain Genesis Code lane. The player traces the real speed curves of Squeektoshi's hamster-wheel runs by tapping a tempo. It is NOT a falling-notes rhythm game, not a lane game, not a dashboard. English UI, static site on IPFS, source repo with README.

Data (public, CORS enabled; verify every field name against the live responses, never invent endpoints or values) • GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/measurement/runs for recorded runs (start time, duration, RPM or speed samples). • GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status every 5 seconds for live state: measurement.coreStatus (ACTIVE / IDLE / COUNTER_FAULT), measurement.rpmMilli / 1000, measurement.freshness, builder.projected.blockHeight (fall back to builder.anchor). • If a source is unavailable, say so in the UI and disable the modes that need it. Never show simulated data as real.

Core mechanic: tempo tracing • Each recorded run becomes a "track": its RPM over time is drawn as a glowing curve scrolling right to left across a seismograph-style canvas, compressed to 45 to 90 seconds of play. • The player taps (Space, or a large pad on mobile) to set a tempo. Player RPM is computed from a rolling 3-second window of taps and drawn as a second line. • Score each frame by how close the two lines are: within 8% = gold, within 20% = silver, else miss. Holding gold builds a Flow multiplier (x1 to x5). When the real curve drops to 0 (he paused mid-run), the player must stop tapping; tapping during his pause costs Flow. • End screen: accuracy %, longest gold streak, Flow peak, and the real run's facts (date, length, top RPM).

Modes • Daily Track: the longest completed run from the previous UTC day, so everyone plays the same track. Shows "Pacer #". • Share card: a Wordle-style emoji grid (10 squares, gold/silver/miss per segment) plus score, copied to clipboard with one button, ready to post on X. No links to wallets. • Setlist: browse the last 20 recorded runs as tracks, sorted by date, each with a mini sparkline of its curve and the player's best grade. • Live Duet: only while the wheel is ACTIVE. The curve is drawn in real time from /v1/status and the player paces him as it happens. Each new Squeek block during the duet adds a +250 x Flow bonus with a toast naming the real block number. • Lullaby: while the wheel is IDLE, Live Duet is replaced by a calm screen with a moon and a breathing circle; staying quiet for 60 seconds earns a "Good roommate" sticker for the collection. His rest is never punished or rushed.

Progress • Sticker collection (10 stickers: first gold run, 5-day Daily streak, 100% on a track, a Duet over 2 minutes, Lullaby, and others) saved in localStorage. • Local best per track and Daily streak counter. Player name max 20 chars, escaped.

Presentation • Retro oscilloscope look mixed with cozy hamster pixel art: dark warm brown background, amber and mint lines, small animated wheel in the corner spinning at the live RPM. • First-visit tutorial overlay of 3 short cards. Mobile and desktop friendly, reduced-motion option, sound toggle with a soft tick per tap.

Rules • No token, no wallet connect, no contracts, no betting, no prizes. • Footer: unofficial fan game for Squeekchain; data read live from the public API on Sepolia testnet.

Work

  1. Posted20 minto the first attempt
  2. Build websiteAgent #92620 files changedsent back

dist/index.html now exists, along with the rest of the site, but nothing has been built, tested or committed. The shell sandbox and the browser both failed on every attempt this session. The shell gave "Failed to create bridge sockets" and Chrome aborted with "Socket path too long". So I wrote every file directly with the file editor.

The repository had no files from the earlier attempt, which is why the check said dist/index.html was missing.

    What's there

    • The game: plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no dependencies, so the committed dist/ runs without a build step. The source is in src/; app.js holds the screens and game loop and logic.js the scoring rules. dist/ is a copy of src/, written file by file; every file's line count matches its source.
    • Brief coverage: it includes tempo tracing (8% gold, 20% silver), Flow x1 to x5 with a cost for tapping during his pauses, and Daily Track with "Pacer #n". The 10-square share card copies to the clipboard. Setlist shows 20 runs with sparklines and best grades, and Live Duet adds a 250 x Flow bonus naming each block. Lullaby awards the sticker after 60 quiet seconds. It also has the 10 stickers, the tutorial, sound and reduced-motion toggles, and the footer. If an API call fails, the modes that need it are switched off with the reason on screen; nothing is simulated.
    • Files: package.json and a dependency-free package-lock.json. Build, check and preview scripts are in scripts/, with tests for the game rules in scripts/check.mjs. There's also README.md, DESIGN.md and artifacts/validation.md.
    • I added a .gitignore for node_modules/, .cache/, .npm/, test/scratch/ and *.tgz. The workspace had .cache/ and .npm/ folders that shouldn't be committed.

Checked against the live API: the field names in /v1/status and /v1/measurement/runs match what the brief says. A recorded "run" is really a list of short segments of wheel passages. The list only accepts limit (up to 100) and cursor, and runs oldest first. The game groups passages into runs and works out RPM from the gaps between them. That assumes one passage is one wheel turn, which is my inference and is noted in the README. The API's records start on Nov 5, so right now there is no "yesterday" run. The Daily panel says so and offers his newest run instead.

Not run, and recorded as such in artifacts/validation.md (status: Incomplete)

    • npm run build, npm run check (syntax check plus 11 rule tests and a byte-for-byte comparison of dist/ with src/), and the design probe.
    • Any viewing in a browser: no screenshots, no first-screen check at 390 wide, and contrast was estimated rather than measured.
    • No git commit.

My design review was done by reading the source only. It caught one serious bug, now fixed in both copies: the tap pad and the tutorial's Back button would have stayed visible when hidden.

    Open issues

    • The share image is an SVG at a relative address. X needs a PNG at a full address, which can only be added once the site's final address is known.
    • Only the first 6,000 segments are loaded, so once the history grows past that the newest runs will be missed. The API has no newest-first or date filter.

Once a working shell is available, run npm run check and then the design probe before trusting the export.

Not delivered: artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

    • highbug: live modes continue on stale or expired status readingssrc/app.js:228

Now: liveUsable checks only that a coreStatus exists and the last fetch did not reject. Stale IDLE responses still unlock Lullaby and its sticker; a status request that never settles leaves the old ACTIVE/RPM usable indefinitely and prevents further polls.

Change to: Require fresh online evidence for both live modes, bound each status request with a timeout, and expire the last successful reading if updates stop. Stop Lullaby or end the duet with a clear unavailable/stale-data message when that guard fails.

Why: The brief requires live status every five seconds and modes that need an unavailable source to be disabled; neither rewards nor continued live tracing should use obsolete evidence.

      390×844, Chromium, fresh localStorage.

      Case 1: return {measurement:{coreStatus:'IDLE',rpmMilli:0,freshness:'offline'},builder:{projected:{blockHeight:'206'}}} from /v1/status.

Open Live and advance 61 seconds with the same response on each poll.

Actual: 'Sweet dreams', 'You earned the Good roommate sticker', and localStorage.stickers.lullaby is set.

Case 2: return ACTIVE/online/rpmMilli=60000 once, start Live Duet, then leave the next status request pending without resolving or rejecting.

      Advance 130 seconds.

Actual: Live Duet remains playable with Him 60, no error or unavailable notice, and the next poll is never scheduled because pollStatus awaits the pending fetch.

Expected: stale-source explanation and disabled/stopped live modes, without earning a stale-IDLE reward or tracing cached data indefinitely.

    • mediumbug: the first block bonus toast is replaced before it can be readsrc/app.js:644

Now: On the first observed block, duetStatus writes the block-number/bonus toast and immediately calls award('block'), which overwrites the same #toast with 'Sticker earned: Block witness'. The real block number never reaches a painted frame.

Change to: Combine the first Block witness announcement with the existing block-number/bonus toast, or queue the sticker announcement until that toast has been visible.

Why: Live Duet requires each new block to add its bonus with a toast naming the real block number.

390×844, Chromium, fresh localStorage without the block sticker.

Return ACTIVE, online, rpmMilli=60000 and builder.projected.blockHeight='206'; enter Live Duet.

On the next status poll return blockHeight='207'.

Actual: score rises by 250 at Flow x1, but #toast reads only 'Sticker earned: Block witness'.

On the subsequent poll with blockHeight='208', it reads 'Squeek block #208 landed. +250'.

Expected: the first bonus must visibly identify block #207 and its +250, too.

    • highbug: a permitted 20-character name causes horizontal scrolling on resultssrc/app.js:907

Now: The result greeting renders the permitted player name in a paragraph with no wrapping rule for long words. A 20-character name of wide letters pushes the results page beyond a 320px viewport.

Change to: Apply overflow-wrap:anywhere to this greeting (or all user-provided name text) so the complete name wraps within the result panel without truncation.

Why: The brief permits names up to 20 characters and requires mobile-friendly play; the layout bar requires no horizontal scroll at 320px.

      320×700, Chromium.

In Stickers, enter exactly WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW (20 W characters); finish any track and view the results.

For a deterministic run, return one eligible segment with 61 passages one second apart starting 2026-11-04T12:00:00Z and latestObservedAt 2026-11-05T05:00:00Z, then play Daily for 63 seconds.

Actual: document.documentElement.scrollWidth is 333 while innerWidth is 320; the greeting spills through the right side of the results panel, as confirmed in the 320px results screenshot.

Expected: full name wraps and scrollWidth remains 320.

    • highbug: Daily keeps yesterday's track after the UTC date changessrc/app.js:206

Now: state.daily is chosen only when runs are initially loaded. The Pacer number is recomputed on each render using the current date, so an open tab can show a new Pacer number with the previous day's track after UTC midnight.

Change to: Recompute and refresh the Daily selection when the UTC day changes and when Daily is opened; keep a started session's Pacer number/day fixed for its results and streak credit.

Why: Daily must use the longest completed run from the previous UTC day so everyone plays the same track.

      390×844, Chromium.

Return two separate completed runs: 61 one-second passages starting 2026-11-04T12:00:00Z and 91 starting 2026-11-05T12:00:00Z; set latestObservedAt to 2026-11-06T00:00:00Z.

Load with the clock on Nov 5: Daily is Pacer #3 and the Nov 4 run.

Advance the clock to 2026-11-06T00:00:01Z without reloading; navigate Setlist then Daily and wait for aria-current to change.

Actual: Pacer #4 still says 'Everyone plays yesterday’s longest run today.

      Nov 4, 2026, 12:00 UTC.

      1 min 0 s, top 60 RPM.'

A fresh tab at the same time selects the Nov 5 run.

Expected: both tabs offer Nov 5's completed run for Pacer #4.

    • highfidelity: pagination stops before the newest recorded runssrc/app.js:191

Now: Recorded history is read oldest-first, but the loader stops after 60 pages even when the API supplies another nextCursor. It silently treats that prefix as the full history, labels its last 20 entries as the latest runs, and can miss the previous UTC day's Daily entirely.

Change to: Continue cursor pagination until nextCursor is exhausted, using bounded pacing/retries if needed; do not label an incomplete prefix as the latest Setlist or conclude that yesterday has no completed run until the necessary coverage has been fetched.

Why: Setlist must contain the last 20 recorded runs, sorted by date, and Daily must select the longest completed run from the previous UTC day.

      390×844, Chromium.

      Intercept /v1/measurement/runs?limit=100[&cursor=…] with 61 pages numbered 0–60.

Each page contains 100 one-second passages starting at 2026-11-03T00:00:00Z + page*100000 ms; set discontinuity true only on the first passage of each page, measurementEligible true, and nextCursor to the next page until page 60.

      Load and open Setlist.

Actual: only 60 requests occur, cursors 0–59; the UI says its 20 runs are the last recorded runs, with newest Nov 3, 01:38 UTC (page 59), although page 60 contains the newer 01:40 UTC run and was explicitly advertised by nextCursor='60'.

Expected: fetch page 60 and include its run in the latest 20.

    • highfidelity: short real runs are excluded instead of becoming playable trackssrc/logic.js:38

Now: buildRuns discards every otherwise valid run below 12 passages or 15 seconds. With only a short run present, the game offers no playable track at all, even though makeTrack already supports stretching runs to 45 seconds.

Change to: Keep recorded runs with enough valid timestamps to derive their speed curve, and let makeTrack map them into the required 45–90 seconds; remove the extra minimum-passage and minimum-duration admission rules.

Why: The brief says each recorded run becomes a track and the Setlist browses the last 20 recorded runs; it does not exclude short runs.

      390×844, Chromium.

      Return items:[{measurementEligible:true,discontinuity:true,passages:[11 timestamps at one-second intervals from 2026-11-04T12:00:00Z through 12:00:10Z]}], nextCursor:null and latestObservedAt:'2026-11-05T05:00:00Z'.

      Open Setlist.

Actual: 'No recorded runs are long enough to play yet.

Runs need at least 15 seconds on the wheel.' and zero Play buttons.

Expected: that measured 10-second run is available as a 45-second track.

The same filtering also drops it from Daily.

    • mediumaccessibility: the tap button ignores assistive click activationsrc/app.js:1071

Now: The native Tap button responds to pointerdown and selected keyboard events, but has no click handler. A screen reader's activate action can dispatch a click without either event, leaving the primary game control inert.

Change to: Handle native click activation as well as low-latency pointer taps, deduplicating events so each physical or assistive activation produces exactly one tap.

Why: The brief requires a playable mobile pad; native button activation must work for visitors using assistive input.

      390×844, Chromium.

Start a 60-RPM Daily fixture, let the countdown end, and activate #pad twice a second apart using element.click() (the DOM button activation path), then advance one frame.

Actual: #pad's class remains 'pad' with no 'hit' feedback, You remains 0 RPM, and the chart remains at zero; source has no click listener for #pad.

Expected: both activations register and the player's tempo is about 60 RPM.

Physical pointerdown and Space do register taps.

    • mediumtaste: the Daily phone screen exceeds the prose budgetsrc/app.js:306

Now: After the tutorial, the loaded Daily screen carries 75 words of prose at 390px, including the introduction, a repeated description of the Daily rule, directions, best/streak line and footer. The pinned probe also flags copy-budget on its first-visit screen (77 words).

Change to: Keep the required footer and facts. Replace the intro line with 'Trace Squeektoshi’s real wheel runs.', the Daily preamble with 'Yesterday’s longest run.', and the pad directions with 'Tap Space or the pad. Stop when he pauses.' The shorter text closes its own vertical space and moves the play control/preview up.

Why: The review bar allows at most 60 prose words on the first phone screen and asks for one plain explanation with directions beside the action.

      390×844, Chromium.

Return a completed 60-second run from Nov 4 at 12:00 UTC, load on Nov 5, and dismiss the tutorial.

      Evaluate the pinned taste.mjs collect() function on this unchanged page: visible prose counts are introduction 13 + Daily rule/facts 19 + directions 14 + best/streak 7 + footer 22 = 75, against the 60-word bar.

Confirmed on the 390px Daily screenshot; the main action is visible at y=415px, so this is copy polish rather than a hidden-product finding.

  4. Build websiteAgent #2211 files changed

All eight findings now have code fixes, but none of them has been run. The shell, browser and web fetch tools failed throughout this session, so I confirmed each defect and checked each fix only by reading the code. The changes also aren't committed, because git needs the shell; they're only in the working tree.

    What each tool answered

    • Shell: Failed to create bridge sockets after 5 attempts, on every call from first to last.
    • Browser: Socket directory path is too long (131 bytes).
    • Web fetch: HTTP 403 from both API endpoints, so the field names weren't rechecked against the live API.

This means the build, npm run check, the design probe (taste.mjs), the reviewers' reproduction steps and all rendering checks did not run. Since npm run build didn't run either, I made the same edits to dist/ by hand. Line counts and key-identifier counts match src/, but that doesn't prove the files are byte-identical. There's no typecheck to run because the source is plain JavaScript.

    Fixes

    FindingChange
Stale live data (high)Status requests time out after 8 seconds and a reading expires after 15. Duet and Lullaby both need online freshness; otherwise the duet ends or Lullaby stops with the reason shown, and no sticker is earned.
Long name overflow (high)The results greeting now wraps.
Daily stuck on yesterday's track (high)Daily re-reads runs and picks again at UTC midnight, and when opened with a list over a minute old. A session already started keeps its Pacer number and streak day.
Pagination cutoff (high)The game follows nextCursor to the end, retrying each failed page up to twice. If a page still fails it shows an error instead of a partial list.
Short runs excluded (high)The minimum length rules are gone. A run now needs two passages and a measurable speed.
First block toast lostToasts now queue, so the block number shows before the sticker message.
Tap pad ignored assistive clicksThe pad now accepts clicks, and a physical tap still counts only once.
Too much text on the phone screenI used the shorter lines the finding proposed. That's about 52 words by hand count against the limit of 60.

I made two small changes beyond the findings:

    • Run lengths: they now show at least 1 s and can no longer read 1 min 60 s.
    • Lullaby: it can no longer start and earn its sticker behind a result card.

I also added tests to scripts/check.mjs, and created artifacts/validation.md, which the README and DESIGN.md already referred to but was missing.

    Risks to check

    • Lullaby may never appear: it now needs measurement.freshness to be online, as the finding asked. If the live API reports something else while he's simply resting, Lullaby stays off, and I couldn't check this.
    • Setlist may fill with tiny runs: with short runs allowed, bursts of a few seconds can take up the last 20 entries. The finding asked for this, but it could look poor on real data.

    Answers to the reviewers

.imd-responses.json marks all eight findings fixed, and each entry says how far it was actually checked. Treat fixed as "changed in the code, not yet confirmed".

    Next step

On a machine where the tools work, run these first:

    npm run build
    git status --short dist
    npm run check
    node .imd/reads/skills/design-critic/scripts/taste.mjs --out test/scratch/taste

The git status line needs a baseline: dist/ already differs from the last commit, so it will list changes either way. To see whether the build altered my hand edits, stage dist/ before building, then use git diff --stat dist. npm run check also compares dist/ to src/ byte for byte.

Not delivered: artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

    Previous findingResolution and measured evidence
bug: stale live statusAt 390px, offline IDLE earned no sticker after 61 seconds. A hung request ended Duet after 13 seconds with an unavailable-data explanation; polling continued.
bug: long player name overflows resultsAt 320px, all 20 W characters wrap; document width remains exactly 320px.
bug: Daily remains stale after midnightAt 390px, midnight changes Pacer #3/Nov 4 to Pacer #4/Nov 5. An ongoing session retains its original day; replay becomes a Setlist run.
fidelity: pagination stops earlyThe browser requested all 61 pages and displayed page 60’s 01:40 run first among 20 entries.
fidelity: short runs excludedThe 10-second fixture appears in Daily and Setlist and completes as a 45-second track.
bug: first block toast overwrittenBlock #207 and +250 remain visible before the queued sticker announcement.
accessibility: assistive click ignoredTwo native button activations one second apart produce 60 RPM. Pointer and Space inputs also produce 60 RPM without duplicate taps.
taste: excessive Daily proseLoaded Daily measures 54 words at 390px; the pinned probe’s copy check also passes.

The requirement inventory below groups related clauses into 41 checks. “After review” covers publication, not a repository defect.
